Getting there
I must be the worst blogger.
Just a lazy update here. In the last couple of months I have managed to get an art studio to rent which is great as now I can seriously get down to some real clay making, casting and firing. The studio is part of East Street Art (ESA) in Leeds, Yorkshire and is equipped to meet my needs. The are electric kilns which are essential for firing the work. Moving in this weekend. Will post some images of the space soon.
I have not made any progress of my art project except for my thought processes. In the meantime I have exhibited some old pieces in Leeds as part of a group show - SALON, an ESA showing of artists work in the Leeds 7 and 8 areas. This was done to launch a new ESA space called Union 105. Will post the links to ESA as well as images of the exhibition. Just don’t really know how yet.
Later.

Attempting to make some sense of this website which is really a blog. I have put some context to images in the Art Gallery so check that out. I am more than ready to move on to the next chapter in my artistic practice.
When I say ‘make sense of’ I mean, try to see how I can use this blog to my advantage. I want to make it interesting and informative. I am sure all bloggers do.
I am going to make it a journal of my journey through my art work. Why, what, when and where. Who with, how, should I?, too late its done.
Keep checking back cause there is more to come.

Well I said I would get back to this blog as soon as I could. Where am I with my art? First, before I get into that, I have over 5,000 comments to my blog and I think 99% of them are spam and total rubbish. They look like names of viruses. It will take me half a day to delete them. Thats what you get when you lose your pass word.
I am still making my art if not making always thinking about it. I passed my MA in Fine Art Practice which was an enriching experience and my work was chosen for an MA Star on Axis web online. The MA opens some doors but other doors you have to force the lock. So you can check out my latest work on that website. I will post images on this website also.
My new work is emerging and it is going to be a more solipsistic approach. As life moves on and my priorities change it is important for me to encompass this within my practice knowing that it is not new but attempting to find a new approch in this saturated art market. I will continue to use photography, ceramics and printing as my tools of creativity but want to add video art to that.
I want to reveal more of my ideas as time goes on which is still taking shape it will at the same time make me more vulnerable as an artist, an African Caribbean woman as an older woman. Its all about confidence, challenging popular culture and being comfortable in your skin. I have collaborateed with other artists and plan to continue with this as the new project develops.
Thats all for now, will write something more interesting later. Please feel free to comment.
8th September 2008
Ok. I will try and keep this thing active as often as possible, meaning I will update it whenever I can. I have just completed my MA in Contemporaty Fine Art Practice and hope to get a pass. Will just have to wait and see. I don’t have much to say right now as my friend has discovered a dead mouse in her kitchen and it has freaked her out and I said I would go over and dispose of it for her… I mean give it a proud burial for you animal lovers out there. Let me know what you think of the images. I will give them some context as soon as I can.
